The island that is home to Vilu Reef Beach looks as if it was created specifically for a resort. On one side of the island is an amazing reef close to the beach that offers a perfect opportunity for snorkelling. In fact, those who snorkel may even be lucky enough to see a dolphin. The other side of the island contains an exquisite lagoon. Beautiful palm trees surround the island and lean over the protected lagoon offering a beautiful swimming and water sports location. The reef does dip into the northern channel of an atoll which may offer great snorkelling and diving opportunities but also has the potential to create strong currents that can sweep away those in the water. Water conditions are monitored closely and the staff will always make guests aware of their recommendations to ensure the safety of all those in the water.
Sunsets at the bar
Meals at the restaurant are served buffet style and are considered to be of great quality. There are two nights of the week that local inspired cuisine is served. There is an excellent coffee shop that is open around the clock. The most popular place at Vilu Reef Beach is certainly the bar whose deck is coincidently facing the West to offer prime sunset viewing. A favorite activity of those who visit is to enjoy a drink while taking in a beautiful Maldivian sunset over the Indian Ocean. Night life is somewhat quiet as many guests who attend like the peacefulness which make it an ideal location for families and older couples who do not enjoy the party all night lifestyle.
Shell shaped rooms
The rooms are shell shaped. Many have great views of the lagoon and beach, while others are garden rooms that are along a widening path between the reef and lagoon sides of the island. All have walk in closets and a second bed that can be used if needed.
Great recreational activities
The reception building at Vilu Reef Beach has much to offer to guests. There are a few shops, a well equipped gym, a room dedicated entirely to table tennis and a restaurant. Also, a volleyball court and pool room can be found where tables can be rented for a couple pounds an hour. There are not many live acts because of the difficulty in flying them in to the island. Many spend their holiday at Vilu Reef Beach for the wonderful snorkelling or diving and the relaxed evening atmosphere.
Vilu Reef Beach has much to offer to its guests, but its greatest assets are something that no other resort can boast because it's natural: one side of the island is a beautiful protected lagoon and the other side is a beautiful reef ideal for snorkelling and diving.
