Angaga Island Resort is a short 25 minute flight by seaplane from Male International Airport, giving you a spectacular view of the atolls from above. With new management in February 2001, Angaga has upgraded all of their massive collection of fifty bungalows to a magnificent standard. Considering the size of the island, their fleet of bungalows is amazing. Each solitary bungalow is complete with an island-feel thatched roof.
Angaga should be considered one of the best four star resorts in the Maldives, with a tennis court coming soon. The beautiful island is covered with white sands and coconut trees that stand as symbols of paradise. Tropical birds can be heard every refreshing morning at the Angaga Island Resort. The bungalows each have their own private beach front which is something that may not be found at many other resorts in the Maldives. Word has it, also, that the wonderful staff at Angaga Island Resort love to treat honeymooners to especially exotic holidays that they will not forget by offering a couple special extras!
A picturesque lagoon and beautiful reef
Many people travel to stay at the tropical paradise of Anagaga Island Resort for the breathtaking sites of the coral reef, which is accessible from about half of the beach for convenience. In fact, there is a famous Maldives dive site called Angaga Thila nearby for those that enjoy that type of activity. The other half of the beach of Angaga Island Resort is a beautiful lagoon. The shallow lagoon has a sandy bottom and turquoise water that look as if it is straight from a postcard. Those on this beach enjoy sun bathing, drinks from the bar and water sports of all kinds.
However, there are no jet skis, banana boats or parasailing at Angaga that serves for a more relaxing beach experience. This resort is more known for honeymooners or snorkelling and diving enthusiasts than families although many families do enjoy what it has to offer.
Night life, food and more
Other popular activities at Angaga Island Resort include "Maldivian Nights" at which all the guests are welcomed to watch traditional dances like Bodu Beru are performed. Of course, there is more dancing and partying into the peaceful and warm night. Many guests like to take excursions to nearby uninhabited islands to go fishing or view the wildlife which includes many rare birds.
The food is served in the Dolphin Bar and Restaurant whose roof is designed to look similar to a turtle shell. Inside, the floor is white and sandy and traditional padded bamboo chairs surround tables. All meals are buffet style and all you can eat. The rooms have brand new tile floors and new air conditioners to escape the heat. New mini bars and fridges have also been installed. More upgrades are set for the future as well. Each bungalow, as mentioned before, can enjoy a small piece of private beach area. With amenities like this, turquoise water and renovated bungalows, Angaga Island Resort is a wonderful Maldives holiday.
